Download Bot lets admins publish a private “download center” for their Discord server: a persistent panel where members pick a product from a category list and get a private link (or the file itself) back. It’s built entirely on Discord’s Components V2 UI system — no classic embeds anywhere — and the browse flow is paginated by design, so it behaves the same whether a server has a handful of products or thousands.

Is Download Bot for you?

Download Bot is a good fit if you:
  • Distribute software, loaders, resources, or other files to your community and want one persistent panel instead of pinned messages or a shared folder link
  • Want to control exactly who can browse and download, per role or admin-only, checked every time someone actually downloads
  • Want a record of what was downloaded, by whom, and how often
  • Have (or expect to have) more products than fit in a single 25-option dropdown
  • Would rather manage the catalog with buttons and modals inside Discord than a wall of slash commands
It’s less of a fit if you only ever hand out one or two files — a pinned message works fine for that, and Download Bot’s category/product structure is more machinery than you need.

What it does

Download center

A single “Browse Downloads” button opens a private, per-user session: pick a category, then a product, get your link or file.

Admin console

Add products by link or file upload, edit, rename, enable/disable, remove, or replace a file — all from buttons and modals behind /downloads.

Access control

Public, restricted to specific roles, or admin-only — set per server, and re-checked on every download, not just when the panel is drawn.

Pluggable storage

Products can point at an external link, a locally stored file, or a Cloudflare R2 object, resolved individually per product.

Analytics

Total downloads, unique users, the most-downloaded products, and recent activity, from inside the admin console.

Multi-guild

Every server gets its own catalog, settings, and access rules from a single bot.

How it is built

Two things shape how Download Bot behaves, and both are worth knowing before you configure it. Everything is Components V2. There is no discord.Embed anywhere in the bot — the public panel, the admin console, and every delivery message are built from buttons, selects, and modals. Nothing destructive happens before its replacement is confirmed. Replacing a product’s file uploads and verifies the new one before the database is updated, and the old file isn’t touched until after that commit succeeds. Removing a product hides it immediately, but its stored file is only deleted once that deletion actually succeeds — a failure is retried, not silently dropped.
